Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

Is agoraphobia physically dangerous?

No. Agoraphobia is not physically dangerous and there is no record of anyone dying from excessive anxiety or a panic attack.

However, some medical conditions cause physical symptoms that mimic those of anxiety and panic. If you suspect you might have agoraphobia, it is best to consult a physician to rule out these possible medical conditions:

  • asthma

  • cardiovascular problems

  • diabetes

  • hypothyroidism

  • seizures

  • problems associated with the inner ear
