What is Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (or EMDR) is a recently developed form of therapy, sometimes used to treat agoraphobia, that focuses on removing emotional triggers associated with childhood abuse or trauma.

In other words, if you have experienced a traumatic event that has caused you to associate fear or anxiety with a certain place, this therapy focuses on removing that fearful or anxious association.
